NEMT - Schedule Medicaid Transport Today!

February 20, 2025 – We are truly relieved to be able to announce that a Colorado state court judge has granted MedRide the ability to resume our medicaid transportation services for all Health First Colorado (Colorado’s Medicaid Program) patients, starting on February 21. For any inquiries about scheduling your appointment(s), please contact the MedRide main office number at 719-545-3333, after first reviewing our service area map and general NEMT guidelines further down this page.

MedRide’s NEMT Services Are NOT Available For: picking up prescriptions from pharmacies, picking up medical equipment, completing job interviews, or completing other paperwork.

Please see below for a full list of guidelines to help you schedule your Medicaid transportation. Please also be aware that these steps are subject to change once we have any more updates from the state of Colorado. Our dedicated in-house Customer Service Team has all the latest updates and information, and can further assist you in deciphering your eligibility, and help you to schedule any of your Medicaid transportation needs!

STEP 1

First, Check Your Eligibility for NEMT

In order for a patient to be eligible for Colorado’s NEMT transportation services, they must first match the following criteria:

  • Be a current Colorado Medicaid patient through Health First Colorado (Colorado’s Medicaid Program)
  • Be determined to not have access to any other means of transportation, including free public transportation options
  • Require Non- Emergency Medicaid eligible transportation. In the case of an Emergengy, please dial 9-1-1 instead.
  • NOT BE within the following designation groups:
    • Qualified Medicaid Beneficiary (QMB)
    • Special Low-Income Medicare Beneficiary (SLMB)
    • Medicare Qualifying Individual-1 (Ql-1)
    • Old Age Pension – State Only (OAP- state only)

NOTE: CHP+ is not a Medicaid program, and therefore is not an eligibility group for our NEMT services.

STEP 2

Personal Information Gathering

Once you determine your eligibility, have reviewed our service area map, and before scheduling your Medicaid Ride, please have the following information on hand:

  • Your Health First Colorado ID Number (Medicaid ID#), First & Last Name, and Date of Birth
  • The Pick Up Address where we will be picking you up to begin your medical transportation ride
  • The Doctor’s Name & Address, as well as a good Telephone Number for confirmation of your medical appointment
  • The Date & Time of your scheduled medical appointment.
  • If your destination is over 25 miles from your pickup location, the state of Colorado also requires you to fill out their 25+ Miles Form per appointment location.
